Feldenkrais Hatha
Yoga Iyengar yoga was developed by B.K.S. Iyengar in India over 65 years ago and has a rich and extensive lineage. It is based on sound principles of anatomy and physiology with a strong emphasis on the development of proper musculoskeletal alignment through the use of props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks and straps. Iyengar yoga enables not only the physiological systems of the body to function at their best, but also promotes the union of mind, body and spirit into one. It builds strength and endurance, increases flexibility, reduces stress and improves circulation, coordination, concentration and balance. Jivamukti Yoga Kundalini Yoga Restorative

JoAnn
Evans, R.Y.T. has dedicated herself to the propagation of Yoga.
She has been teaching Yoga for 30 years. She was awarded the title
of Yoga Siromani in 1975 from Swami Vishnu Devananda after 6 weeks
of Teacher Training at Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Val Morin,
Quebec Canada. Before moving to Florida 24 years ago, JoAnn operated
a successful studio in the D.C. area. At the Yoga Center of Deerfield
Beach, she teaches Hatha Yoga, stress reduction, meditation, Bhagavad

her teacher training classes in South Florida and Evergreen Yoga
in Bethesda, Maryland. Her Yoga classes draw students from all over
the country. Her unparalleled style of teaching Raja Yoga combines
postures, breathing techniques and meditation with methods to incorporate
the philosophy of Yoga into our daily lives. Her knowledge of the
body enables her to effectively teach beginners as well as the most
advanced students. Her wisdom, kindness and wit create a stimulating
and warm environment for her students.
Louise

an M.A. in education. She was originally certified at the Sivananda
Ashram in Quebec, and has been teaching Hatha Yoga since 1980. In
addition to teaching adults, she teaches yoga to children in the
public school systems, including those with emotional handicaps
and autism. Louise has trained hundreds of educators to implement
yoga-based exercises into their classrooms. She uses yoga as therapy
in her massage practice, and sees yogas benefits in healing
injuries and chronic pain, both physical and emotional. Louises
love for asana, her fascination with yoga philosophy, and her desire
to bring peace into the world are the foundations for her teaching. Dotty

23 years ago at the Kripalu Center in Lenox, Mass. At Kripalu, Dotty

hearts to open to our highest selves. She believes in the joy of
teaching. She encourages playfulness in her classes as a way to

to become teachers. Christine Apter, M.S., R.Y.T., ERYT 500 holds a Master’s Degree in Biology and has a background in the medical field. Christine is an Adjunct Instructor at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida in the Department of Exercise Science and Health Promotion and is on the staff of Yoga Teacher Training at the Yoga Center of Deerfield Beach, Florida. She has been inspired by the Anusara style of yoga which blends the science of biomechanics and the art of opening to grace to add more joy and beauty to the world. It cultivates skills and virtues to empower the yoga practitioner to become the person that he or she wants to be both on and off of the mat. The results are freedom in the body, mind, and heart, with a more expansive perspective of life. She embraces the delight of yoga and is dedicated to serving each student to help them unveil their innate goodness, worthiness, and Supreme nature. Known for her enthusiasm, knowledge, wit and wisdom, Christine’s yoga philosophy is: “Our purpose on this earth is to realize our true nature.” Ann

After experiencing many styles of yoga and its philosophy from a variety of teachers including Deepak Chopra, she acquired her European certification in London, England but did not intend to teach as she was at the peak of her career. After moving to Florida seven years ago, she felt the call receiving her American certification as an Instructor in the Science of Yoga, also holding certificates in Reiki, Silver Sneakers Chair Yoga and Yoga specifically for people with MS. She has added her own personal mark to a combination class called Yoga Fusion; a Hatha based practice that begins and closes with a guided relaxation and specific breath work carried through most of the 1 1/2 hour class. Using props such as belts, bolsters, bricks, pillows etc. to help align the body to enable it to gently move deeper into the asana (pose) gaining a better understanding of the postures. When appropriate, a touch of Kundalini is used to awaken energy and once a month we do a Vinyasa style flowing yoga, always moving slowly. "Maybe that's why turtles live for so long." Detailed instructions and corrections are given. Private lessons also available. Please contact The Yoga Center or Sabah directly at 954 566-6219. |
